The younger sister of Shelda Bede, Shaylyn moved to Rio De Janeiro when she started her Beach Volleyball career. In 2002, Shaylyn proved that she was not only "Shelda’s sister" when she earned three domestic podium finishes. Like Shelda, Shaylyn compensates the lack of height with great talent. She played her sister in the finals of the 2004 Italian Open in Milan with Renata Ribeiro where they finished second to Adriana and Shelda. Shaylyn, who won a SWATCH-FIVB World Tour stop in 2004 at Osaka, Japan, with Ana Paula Connelly, won the inaugural SWATCH-FIVB U-21 World championships in 2001 with Maria Clara Salgado at Le Lavandou, France.
